You can make a simple cleaning solution by using water and vinegar. To make sure you’re getting into all of the crevices of your cup holders, soak a few cotton swabs in the solution. If you’re looking for a cheap and easy option, put a plastic grocery store bag in one of your side panel storage pockets. You can also hang it behind one of the headrests for the front seats. You can also go look for a pop-up trash can that is designed to fit nicely inside your car. These often have a closing lid, which keeps trash from flying out of it when you take a turn a little tighter than you intended too.

The real trick to having an in-car trash can, however, is to be diligent about clearing it out. After all, if you’re good about putting your trash in there, but then never actually getting the trash out of the car, you haven’t made any progress.

The space between your seats can seem like some sort of endless void from your favorite science fiction film.
