Driver Essentials Plus

Course Requirements

DMV and ODOT set the rules for this course. We are unable to make exceptions to these requirements. Please read them carefully

Classroom Lessons

• All students must attend 30 hours of classroom instruction.
• Students must earn a final score of 80% on classwork.
• Students must participate in various learning activities during each class, including answering questions participating in polls, taking tests, and more. If you do not participate, we cannot count you as an active student in the class, and you will not receive credit for that session.
• Classroom tests are open books and open notes.
• The instructor will notify parents of all absences.
• If you fall below 30 hours of classroom attendance, you must attend additional classroom sessions to reach the minimum ODOT requirement of 30 hours.
• If you score less than 80% on a test, you must schedule a time to make it up.

Driving Lessons

• All students will participate in six driving lessons with a partner. Each student will drive for one hour and then observe for one hour, so the total time for each lesson will be two hours.
• Each driving lesson is done in a PDE vehicle equipped with a two-way video camera and an instructor brake. Parents are allowed to attend the driving lessons if they wish to do so.

Current Permit or Driving License and access to a computer for the online lessons.
